Norberto Spina

Norberto Spina (b.1995) is an Italian artist currently working and living in London. His work examines the layered complexity of contemporary urban experience, and in doing so brings together seemingly disparate personal, historical, and religious iconography to form an elusive visual puzzle. In both subject matter and process, Spina presents us with a fragmented and charged visual lexicon, one in which the hierarchy of images is disrupted, with religious iconography given the same weighting as family photographs. His paintings reflect an experience of contemporary life that is chaotic and subjective, acknowledging the conscious and subconscious influence of the past as it reverberates in the present.
